ABOUT DUNAMIS GIVES
Dunamis Gives Inc. was founded in September 2024 by military veteran Deidre Somdah to address a gap no other organization in Metro Atlanta was filling: student hygiene poverty as a barrier to education.

The Problem

Thousands of Metro Atlanta students experience hygiene poverty—the inability to afford basic personal care products like soap, deodorant, toothpaste, feminine hygiene products, and laundry detergent. When hygiene needs go unmet, students miss school due to embarrassment, experience bullying, and struggle to focus on learning.

Research shows that 42% of students experiencing hygiene poverty report missing school due to hygiene-related issues. For students managing households independently, raising siblings, or navigating housing instability, hygiene poverty is just one of many survival challenges.

Our Solution

Dunamis Gives partners with K-12 schools and universities to provide free, dignity-centered access to essential hygiene and household supplies. We deliver products directly to trusted school staff who distribute them discreetly using methods tailored to their school culture—self-service tables, shopping rooms, or targeted distribution.

Our Impact

In just 15 months, we have:

· Served 1,680+ students across four institutions

·  Distributed over 1,500+ hygiene and household products

· Built partnerships with three high schools and one university

· Established ourselves as Metro Atlanta's only nonprofit exclusively focused on student hygiene poverty

What Makes Us Different

Unlike food banks or general poverty programs, we specialize in removing hygiene-related barriers to education. We provide culturally responsive products (hair care for various textures, feminine hygiene products, household essentials) and prioritize student dignity through flexible distribution models.

Our Founder

Deidre Somdah is a military veteran committed to serving vulnerable populations with dignity. After initially planning to help elderly neighbors, she was redirected by a calling to address student hygiene poverty—a gap no other Atlanta organization was filling. What started as packing boxes in her home has grown into a movement serving nearly 2,000 students annually.
